Budding novelists are being invited to enter a national writing competition with a feline twist.
The ‘Search for a Star’ novel writing competition, organised by leading independent women’s fiction publisher Choc Lit and audiobook publisher Soundings, is about finding fresh new writing talent.

This year, the competition is sponsored by Your Cat Magazine, which means that all submitted stories must include a cat! It could be a heart-stopping romance, a gripping thriller, even a Christmas story, as long as there’s a feline character.

On offer to the winner is a three-book deal across all platforms — digital, print, and audio.

The top three entries will be chosen by the Choc Lit Tasting Panel, with the editorial teams of Choc Lit and Soundings selecting the winner, with input from Your Cat Magazine. Initial publication for the winning entrant is planned for autumn 2019.

Your Cat editor Emily Wardle says: “Our feline friends are the source of much inspiration — and we hope that the theme of this year’s competition will create plenty of interest in the cat community and beyond. Whether an adventurous moggy is the protagonist, or a feline companion is a secondary character, we’re sure that you won’t be stuck for ideas.”

Entries will be accepted from writers not previously published or accepted by an agent or publisher. Competition submissions should be full-length novels (60,000-100,000 words).

Entries must be submitted by February 28, 2019. Full competition rules and details of how to enter can be found via the website www.choc-lit.com/search-for-a-star-competition

The winner and runners-up will feature in Your Cat Magazine.
